There are some wonderful gardens to view locally to Newport. Why not spend the day exploring all the magical locations and plants that these gardens have to offer.

Penlan Uchaf Gardens - Gwaun Valley

​Approximately three acres of landscaped gardens are set around our working farm. Renowned for their breathtaking views over the Preseli Hills and riot of Spring bulbs, the garden also boasts alpine beds, herbaceous borders, flowering shrubs and conifers. Along with a raised Herb Garden, mountain stream and ponds the garden provides plenty to wander amongst. Our strategic seating provides opportunities for you to stop awhile, relax and take in all the natural sights and sounds of the peaceful garden and surrounding countryside. The garden evolves year and year, with new ventures, plants and ideas evident.

The gardens are typically open from dawn till dusk seven days a week, early Spring through to late Autumn. Please telephone us for holiday and out of season opening times or for group and special arrangements.

 Dyffryn Fernant - Llanychaer

Under the Pembrokeshire Preseli uplands, rich in pre-history, in an area of historically small and isolated farms lies six acres of Dyffryn Fernant Garden; made from the runt of land left over from a once prosperous, self-contained, productive place. Sir Roy Strong talks of garden as memory, here it is the memory of the land itself together with my memory, the garden maker who has cultivated this place.
Christina and David also offer gardening workshopd, guided walks, propogation  and scything workshops.

Bro Meigan Gardens - Boncath
Situated in the beautiful north Pembrokeshire countryside on the edge of the Pembrokeshire National Park and overlooking the Preseli Hills which are reputedly the source of the Stonehenge Bluestones. 

You may stroll around the 6½ acres of formal lawns, colourful herbaceous borders, wild meadow and a delightful wooded dingle with natural springs and bog garden. There is a huge range of plants and trees that provide colour and interest whatever the season. The gardens are in a beautiful, peaceful location and are the perfect place to unwind. There are many seats in quiet settings that allow you to relax and enjoy the lovely views of the mystical Preseli Hills, which form a magnificent backdrop to the gardens.

Hilton Court Gardens - Roach

With eight acres of woodland, gardens, island beds and borders, expanses of water, geodesic tropical dome and stunning ponds. Hilton Court is a place to relax and unwind.

You will be drawn to the natural beauty and tranquility of these delightful gardens when you wander through the 250 year old woodland, wildflower and lakeside walks, all sympathetically planted to provide interest to the amateur and more experienced gardener.

The woodlands, ponds and lakes are all sustainably managed to maximize the biodiversity of habitats within Hilton Court. Due to the sheltered location, the mature woodland surrounding Hiltons’ gardens provide a secluded haven for wildlife and flowers in which to flourish.
Follow the meandering paths, crossing rustic wooden bridges and listing to cascading waterfalls, you can loose yourself in the 8 acres of amazing natural beauty.

Stackpole Walled Gardens - Stackpole

A stroll around the historic Stackpole Walled Gardens on the National Trust estate at Stackpole in Pembrokeshire offers a glimpse into a bygone age. For the past 250 years the garden has produced food for the table and that long tradition continues to this day.

The Garden is managed by the trustees of Pembrokeshire Mencap Ltd and you will be able to enjoy the extensive gardens and see first hand the impressive work undertaken by Pembrokeshire adults with learning disabilities , who produce a large range of plants, fresh fruit and vegetables that you can buy in the Garden shop.

Moorland Cottage Gardens - Brynberian
A plantsmans garden of around 1½ acres which is open from mid May to the end of September for the National Gardens Scheme. We use the garden to provide propagating material for the nursery and trial new varieties for disease and mollusc resistance.

The planting style is diverse and exuberant. Secretive enclosed areas planted as shelter belts, where carpets of spring flowers give way to jungly perennials, grasses, bamboos and ferns contrast with the formal herbaceous borders. Leading on from these are extensive shrubberies with views over the wild flower meadow and the landscape beyond.

The garden overlooks a vast wilderness and there is strategically placed seating from which to enjoy the views.

Picton Castle Gardens - Havefordwest

Explore the Castle’s rich history, discover our rare trees and plant collections from around the world and enjoy the  magnificent Rhododendrons, shady woodlands, an exotic jungle garden and colourful walled garden alongside living willow dens, family trails and an engaging adventure playground. The wildlife is abundant and there’s plenty of space to run or simply relax on one of our many garden seats to enjoy the tranquility and take in the views.

Boasting one of the best plant collections in Wales, including an important collection of conifers, roses, medicinal herbs and Rhododendruns, the Estate is also historically and horticulturally important. Recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society, the gardens are now part of their Partner Gardens access scheme.

Colby Gardens - Amroth

A beautiful woodland garden run by the National Trust. Set in a tranquil secret valley this hidden woodland garden with a rich industrial past is full of surprises.
Spring brings carpets of bluebells, crocuses, and daffodils, then swathes of camellias, rhododendrons and azaleas, followed by hydrangeas and the summer wildflowers.

Enjoy shady woodland walks, the wildflower meadow and colourful walled garden in summer, and the marvelous colours of acers, dogwoods and Sweet-gum in autumn.
Explore the meadow with its lovely stream, stepping stones, log bridge and abundant dragonflies and butterflies.
